Join my with my guest, artist Mr. Subodh Kerkar, as we discuss the many questions I have about his life, work, what art means to him, the influence of Goan and Indian colonial and post colonial history on the country today, and much more.
Subodh is an artist who has worked with a multitude of media, a professor who holds the Mario Miranda Chair for Arts in Goa University, and an ex-medical doctor. Born in 1959, in Goa, Subodh gave up his medical profession in 1990 to pursue his passion. His art practice includes installations, sculptures, multimedia works, performances, paintings and drawings that express commentaries on social, political and religious issues. As a Goan artist, he is also heavily influenced by his proximity to the ocean, with many of his installations existing in relation to this life-giving body of water. Subodh is the founding director of the Museum of Goa. You can see many of the Museum's artworks by heading to the Museum of Goa website and Subodh’s personal website.
